Visit to MOZAC

MOZAC is a Science school located on the top of a hilly area. It has a large campus, consisting of several blocks. When we first entered MOZAC, we were warmly greeted by the teachers and students there and invited to a delicious but simple lunch. Then, we did not know what was in store for us.

After lunch, we watched several students put up a thrilling performance of the kompang and silat.

We were then led into a hall, where we learned more about the school as well as students. We also watched many more astounding performances put up by the students, including both traditional and
modern dances. For example, two students put up a beautiful dance.

To show our gratitude towards our host school, each class from our school also either put up a skit or performed a song about Singapore or our school for them. Our class performed Singapore's 2013 National Day Song, One Singapore. Another class put up a skit of one of Singapore's more popular legends, "The Legend of Bukit Merah".

Next, we went around the school and took part in various activities facilitated by the students. Some of these included learning how to play the kompang and other musical instruments, as well as batik painting. We also learnt to play various traditional games, such as hopscotch, five stones and Galah panjang (also known as Runner and Tagger). We all enjoyed ourselves immensely and were also able to bond with the students.

When it was time to part, all of us were rather reluctant. Nevertheless, we waved goodbye from our seats in the bus to our newfound friends as we left. It was certainly a great experience that I am sure many of us will keep with us for a long time.
